Behaviour of Steel Structures in Seismic Areas
STESSA 2009

The Organizing Committee is pleased to announce STESSA 2009, the sixth edition of this Specialty Conference. The Conference, as in past editions, is devoted to the behavior of steel structures in seismic areas.
Philadelphia (United States) has been selected for the venue of the Conference. It will be the first time that the Conference has been held in the United States. Previous editions of the Conference were held in Timisoara (Romania, 1994), Kyoto (Japan, 1997), Montreal (Canada 2000), Naples (Italy, 2003), and in Yokohama (Japan, 2006).
STESSA06 in Yokohama, like all prior editions of the Conference, confirmed the continuing interest in the behavior of steel structures in seismic areas. In Yokohama, about 150 participants from 20 countries took part in STESSA06. In all, 150 papers were presented, and published in the Conference Proceedings. STESSA09 will create a forum to present and discuss issues related to the behavior of steel structures in earthquakes and the new and innovative ideas being pursued in steel.
